Almost 15 years ago, I started my career as an accountant — bookkeeping, and preparing tax returns with pen and paper, and software that came on CDs. I experienced the transition from on-prem and desktop to cloud and mobile first-hand. It changed everything. We were able to categorize transactions, track financial metrics, and support clients from anywhere, at any time. 

After nearly a decade in accounting, I moved into Product to build software for accountants. I’ve always been driven by one question: How can we elevate the accounting industry with technology?

Accountants spend most of their day using tools to support clients. These solutions play a significant role in shaping their overall satisfaction, and the ability to serve their clients. Yet for too long, the bar for software for accountants has been low: broken bank feeds, slow systems, and user interfaces that feel decades old.

My co-founder, Ying, and I started Abacor to change this forever. 

We believe accountants deserve beautifully crafted, reliable, and truly useful technology. Every pixel matters, just as every number matters to an accountant.

Our mission is ambitious, yet simple: To empower accountants to elevate the financial health of every individual and business globally. Accountants are the trusted advisor for their clients. Abacor exists to support accountants in supporting their clients.

Introducing Abacor

The first step in achieving our mission is removing the administrative burden from accountants’ daily work. More than half of an accountant’s time is spent on admin. When I was an accountant, I regularly questioned how disconnected what I studied in accounting during university and my Chartered Accountant qualification was to reality. 

To start, we’re focusing on meeting admin. On average, accountants spend 50 minutes preparing for and following-up on every client meeting. This pain escalates for every accountant within a firm. 

Client meetings are one of the most important milestones in any service line within an accounting firm. They’re where trust is built and client relationships grow. Yet today, many accountants struggle to give clients their full attention because they’re busy taking notes, recalling past details, or chasing follow-ups that take days.
